Using Inspiration To Get Your Kids to Love Chemistry
Using Inspiration To Get Your Kids to Love ChemistryEveryone loves chemistry, right? It is the easiest of all the subjects that kids learn in school. It's probably the most rewarding too. However, getting your kids to really enjoy chemistry can be difficult.Unfortunately, it's often hard to get them to listen to teachers about what they need to learn in school. We all want to make sure our kids are learning the correct information though. Chemistry can be a challenge too, because it requires attention to detail and fast reading skills. However, if you use these two skills to help your kids learn chemistry, they will love learning chemistry as much as you do.You need to help your kids understand the concepts so they will be able to grasp an entire lesson on their own. Give them some clues about what is happening. Instead of saying 'elementary science, go over here,' have them point with their finger. Or let them come up with a color combination on their own. Give them plenty of room t o try out the different things so they will be excited to try them out later on.Another thing that helps is to find out where your kids have trouble when it comes to science. Do they feel lost when you ask them a question about science? Ask them about the way they feel when they are having a problem with a concept? Show them a picture or a graphic so they will be able to visualize how the concept works. As soon as you have your kids studying, it is important that you provide them with chemistry projects to take care of. This will also give them something fun to do when they are stuck on an idea. They can work hard on these projects so they can understand the concepts.Need some inspiration? Try reading a fun book about chemistry. The book can serve as a reference for them while they are doing their chemistry projects. It can also get them excited about the subject so they will want to learn more.EASIEST HAPPY TIP: When parents teach their kids about science, it's important that they a re inspired. When they are inspired, they are better at staying motivated to do their chemistry projects. So, make sure you are constantly motivating your kids. This can be done by being fun to be around.Don't be surprised if your kids enjoy science. They will definitely enjoy it once they have the right tools to learn chemistry. Hopefully, this article has given you some inspiration.

4 Ways to Get Involved on Campus as a Commuter Student
4 Ways to Get Involved on Campus as a Commuter Student This post is part of a week-long series to help new high school and college students prepare for their freshman year. Throughout this week, visit the Varsity Tutors blog for advice, tips, and tricks for this critical transition. College is a unique environment that challenges you to step out of your comfort zone and welcome opportunities for growth. The first piece to branching out of your comfort zone is getting involved on campus, a task that can be particularly intimidating for commuter students. Without the luxury of constant bonding with floormates, commuter students must find ways to feel at home on campus. Commuter students can get involved on campus by participating in on-campus activities, taking advantage of campus facilities, and exploring major-specific opportunities. Are you living off campus this fall and worried about finding your niche? Keep reading to learn four ways to get involved on campus as a commuter student. 1. Get involved as a commuter student by participating in on-campus activities Schools typically host an activities fair at the start of each semester where students can obtain information about many of the available clubs and resources on campus. As a commuter student, it can be more challenging to find a group of individuals who share your interests, but on-campus organizations can provide that network. Activities fairs often have a plethora of options for you to consider, ranging from student government to club sports. Even though it may seem intimidating, task yourself with finding two to four clubs or student activities that hold your interest. Gather information about these organizations, and attend meetings to see which may be the right fit. Dont feel the need to overload yourself with extracurricular activities, though. The point of these activities is to help find your place on campus. Its also important to note that living off campus doesnt stop you from participating in most organizations. Identify groups that interest you, and find ways to thrive in them as a commuter student. [RELATED: How to Make the Most of Your College Orientation] 2. Get involved as a commuter student by taking advantage of campus facilities When you live off campus, it can be tempting to only stay on campus for the duration of your classes. Its key to make staying on campus a habit as much as possible. Dedicate time to exploring the grounds and facilities your school has to offer. There are many ways to get involved on campus through available facilities, including: Visiting different locations that students typically socialize, such as the student union or the quad Studying in the campus library, as opposed to at your home or another off-campus location Exploring campus recreational resources like a pool The more you get to know your campus, the more people youll meet along the way wholl give you reasons to frequent the school. 3. Get involved as a commuter student by exploring opportunities in your intended major Regardless of if youve declared your major, finding ways to get involved in your area of interest can help you feel more at home on campus. Academic departments typically have clubs geared toward that specific subject matter where you can meet professors and other students. Additionally, its a great opportunity to learn whether or not you want to pursue this major long-term. Inquire with teachers in the department youre interested in to see what organizations are available and how to join. This is two-fold: youre able to get involved on campus, while meeting others in your major who you can network with in the coming years. [RELATED: What I Wish I Knew About Picking a College Major] 4. Get involved as a commuter student by spending time in the residence halls Youll likely make friends through your classes and activities with people who live on campus. Take advantage of this and spend time with them in the residence halls. This can open you up to a new network of friends and help you feel more ingrained in the campus lifestyle. These students will also often know of campus events that you may not know about, giving you more opportunities to get involved. [RELATED: 9 Things Every College Student Understands] While living off campus poses a slight challenge, everyone is generally in the same boat as youanxious to make friends and fit in. Slope Intercept Form Equations Online Tutoring
Slope Intercept Form Equations Online Tutoring Slope is defined as raise over run. The slope of the line is very useful for finding the equation of the straight line. The slope of the line can be calculated given two points on the straight line. The slope intercept equation of a straight line is of the form y = mx + b; here m is the slope of the line and b is the y-intercept of the line. Example 1: Fine the slope intercept equation of a straight line passing through (0, 6) and having the slope 1? Solution: Given is the slope of the line = 1. The slope intercept form of a line = y = mx + b. Hence the line given is y = 1 x + b. Here b is the unknown. Mentioned in the question is, line passes through (0, 6). Therefore, 6 = 1 (0) + b; b = 6 - 0 = 6. Hence the equation in slope intercept form is y = x + 6. Example 2: Fine the slope intercept equation of a straight line passing through (-1, 3) and having the slope 7? Solution: Given is the slope of the line = 7. The slope intercept form of a line = y = mx + b. Hence the line given is y = 7 x + b. Here b is the unknown. Mentioned in the question is, line passes through (-1, 3). Therefore, 3 = 7 (-1) + b; b = 3 + 10 = 10. Hence the equation in slope intercept form is y = 7x + 10.

ChaptersHow to Teach Failing Students? How To Teach Dyslexic StudentsHow to Teach Students with AutismHow to Teach Students with DyspraxiaâA hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.â - Christopher ReeveWe often say that teaching is the noblest profession in the world. Itâs true that teaching requires impeccable values. When you teach students, you have to provide them with knowledge and give them the skills to become functioning members of society. However, private tutorials can give students a little extra help when they need it.More and more young students are dropping out of university in the UK. In fact, this figure has continuously risen in recent years.Just like no two teachers are the same, no two students are the same. As a teacher, you have to adapt your pedagogy to each student. This is even truer if the students happen to have special educational needs. In this article, weâre going to look at how to teach students with autism, dyspraxia, or dyslexia, and students who are struggling at school CalumDrama School Entrance Teacher 5.00 (15) £50/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors ToriSpanish Teacher 5.00 (1) £15/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors OliviaSchool support Teacher 5.00 (2) £21/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors MarkESOL (English) Teacher 4.76 (17) £20/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors YuweiChinese Teacher 4.33 (6) £19/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors JenniferMusic reading Teacher 5.00 (1) £30/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors LouiseAutoCAD Teacher 5.00 (3) £60/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors RickyPercussion Teacher 5.00 (7) £35/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors NicolasGuitar Teacher 5.00 (2) £35/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors MyriamOrganic chemistry Teacher 5.00 (13) £20/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors JonathanEconomics Teacher 5.00 (9) £40/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors Oluwakemi imoleMaths Teacher 5.00 (1) £30/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors AlexPhysics Teacher 5.00 (1) £50/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors AdamSinging Teacher 5.00 (14) £48/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors ValentiniMusic reading Teacher 5.00 (2) £50/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors MilenaMaths Teacher 5.00 (5) £25/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors RashmiEconomics Teacher 5.00 (1) £35/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutorsHow to Teach Failing Students?Every student, no matter how good they are, may struggle to achieve their academic objectives. However, some students struggle academically or have behavioural problems that hinder their ability to learn. Students can struggle in any subject, be it physics, French, maths, or history.A child with learning difficulties isn't necessarily a difficult child. (Source: KokomoCole)A teacherâs job will be to guide the struggling student and make them aware of their potential and wh y schooling and their academic performance will be important for their future. Teachers need to adapt their teaching approach, how they speak to their students, and the advice they give to them. Communication can be constructive, but you have to communicate in the right way in order to encourage students. In fact, in order to teach a student whoâs struggling, you donât really want them to leave a lesson feeling less encouraged than before. You need to be aware of their abilities without focusing too much on their issues. This is where teachersâ talent comes into play, they need to be a guide, support their students, and act as a learning coach for struggling students. Thus, academic support or private tutorials for struggling students need to involve both a teacher whoâs passionate about the subjects they teach and invested in their studentsâ learning, especially those with learning disabilities or who are struggling at school.A teacher needs to be aware that a studentâs future may be decided at school. Nobody is genetically predisposed to liking school, but you do need to appreciate what you learn there. This is something that struggling students may not have realised, that their teacher is trying to help them, for example. You also need to be aware that certain students may be failing due to an underlying issue that hasn't been diagnosed. If you suspect a child may have ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), dyslexia, dyspraxia (development coordination disorder), or autism spectrum disorder, you'll need to mention it to the appropriate personnel at the school or, if you're teaching private tutorials, you may need to discuss this with the parents. How To Teach Dyslexic StudentsDyslexia is characterised by spelling and reading difficulties in students with normal intelligence. People with dyslexia struggle with literacy and learning to read due. However, children with dyslexia who have an awareness of their reading problems can still excel in school, given the right teaching strategies are used. For students with special educational needs, the relationship between the teacher and the student is very important. (Source: White77)A dyslexic child isnât any different to any other child. That said, they can be helped by a private tutor to get around their dyslexia, a learning difficulty that a private tutor will need to consider when teaching them. When theyâre in class, they might stand out from the other students due to their difficulties and feel vulnerable in class. Itâs a teacherâs job to be patient with them and help them to read and write without pressuring them. Teaching dyslexic students neednât be challenging, but it does require that you remain aware of certain teaching approaches youâll need to adopt.A dyslexic child tends to exhibit the following:Problems with speech and comprehensionLanguage difficultiesDifficulties organising themselves in their daily livesReduced auditive and visual memoryBelow a verage reading abilitiesHowever, never underestimate a studentâs ability to learn and adapt their behaviour during an academic support tutorial, be it for physics, chemistry, music, or even online academic support tutorials. A dyslexic student can learn in the same way as other students.Dyslexic students who have all the necessary learning tools can learn just as quickly as any other student. That said, they can have issues with their self-confidence and their tutorâs job will be to ensure that they remain confident in their abilities to learn. A teacher canât just focus solely on everything theyâre getting wrong. Teaching private tutorials or group classes is an art.You need to juggle different levels, different personalities, and different expectations, especially as a tutor teaching a student with dyslexia. From reception to upper sixth, a teacherâs job is to help a student to progress, regardless of their situation. If you need more information on this reading disabilit y or dysgraphia or dyscalculia, consider visiting the site of the British Dyslexia Association and finding out more about how you can help students with their reading and writing. You'll have to adapt some of the activities you use in your classroom or private tutorials, remembering that certain tasks and activities are incredibly difficult for dyslexic children, especially if the task requires reading skills, reading aloud, word recognition, or handwriting. How to Teach Students with AutismAutism is a condition that comes with a lot of common misconceptions. Many people think that those with autism live in a bubble, isolated from others. However, people with autism can be just as open and intelligent as anyone else and, just like anyone else, can also benefit from private tutorials or academic support. From writing activities in primary school to guitar lessons, anything is possible.A teacher needs to be able to adapt their lessons to the students they're teacher. (Source: Free-Pho tos)This is why tutors neednât behave much differently. Of course, there are differences that need to be highlighted. However, students with autism arenât necessarily more difficult to teach and nor are they easier to teach. While people may think that an autistic student may be unable to interact with others, they can benefit from interaction with other students. A private tutor should never consider that any of their courses or lessons are unsuitable for those with autism. If a tutor wants to get the most out of their student, they need to see their student as the individual that they are and not in terms of one particular condition but rather their personality and abilities. Like any other student, a student with autism has their own strengths and weaknesses that need to be taken into account in order to get the most out of their learning. How to Teach Students with DyspraxiaDyspraxia is a developmental coordination disorder (DCD) that affects movement and coordination and can m ake tasks such as writing, getting dressed, or tying shoelaces very difficult for a student. This can make schooling very difficult. This is why a teacher should know exactly how to teach a student with such a disorder.Teaching students with dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, or any other special educational needs is an opportunity to develop new teaching techniques. (Source: sasint)Letâs not forget that a student with dyspraxia can still be a very gifted student. They just struggle with actions that other students at school wonât, like writing. You donât need to talk down to them in order to explain a concept as they can understand just as well as any other student. Only their motor skills are affected, not their general intelligence. In fact, a dyspraxic student needs their teacher to be there for them, whether itâs their Spanish teacher, maths teacher, or a private tutor. Itâs essential that the teacher adapts their lessons and activities to work with the student. The main ide a is to adopt the right teaching approach and pedagogy.Whether a student is dyslexic, autistic, dyspraxic, or struggling at school, a tutorâs job is to provide them with tailored lessons that help them to get the most out of their abilities in spite of any difficulties they may have. While teaching isnât always relaxing, it is always rewarding. Can you really put a price on that?We certainly don't think so!

Lyrically Stuck Think Like Eddie Vedder
Lyrically Stuck Think Like Eddie Vedder Suzy S. Earlier this week, Eddie Vedder announced the venues for his upcoming solo tour, stopping in 13 cities to promote his 2011 album Ukelele Songs. The tour begins on April 11th in Las Vegas, and then works across the country, ending on May 16th in Orlando. Pearl Jam embarks on its European tour just one month after. Vedders passion-filled lyrics, ranging in topics from personal to political, have made him one of the most prominent songwriters of the rock-and-roll genre. Pair that with his signature singing style, and youve got the makings of one of the most influential bands of all time. If songwriting is something that you want to improve on, honing in on your creativity is an important skill to learn. We suggest checking out our previous posts on writing lyrics and breaking songwriters block, but if youre still not feeling creative, dont stress too much. For many musicians, finding new and unique ideas and just plain motivation are the hardest parts. In order to help you out of that rut, here are 3 more exercises to find inspiration for song lyrics: 1. Location Inspiration: Find lyric-writing inspiration through location Location is very important when writing, because atmosphere affects your creative energy. For example, it may be difficult to write sad or painful lyrics in a park. At a park youd probably feel relaxed and maybe a little content or happy. This atmosphere wouldnt work to channel sadness, unless you have a sad memory attached to the park (more on object inspiration next). In an empty and run-down apartment, you probably wouldnât feel happiness, so itd be the best location to write a painful lyric or two. Even your kitchen is different from your living room in evoking creative emotion. Choose the best location to write your song lyrics. 2. Object Inspiration: Find lyric-writing inspiration through objects Rarely does inspiration just come from within. Songwriters surround themselves with things that will inspire their next creative work. Open a photo album and reminisce on old memories attached to your target emotion. Read old letters and remember where you were and what you felt when you first read them. Visit friends or family member you havent seen in a while, to get inspired. Watch a television show or film where your target emotion is prevalent. Go to a familiar place and think about old memories from there. Use whatever object you need to channel your target emotion. 3. Topic Inspiration: Find lyric-writing inspiration through a topic or idea Imagine yourself in a particular situation. It could be a situation thats happened to you, someone close to you, a group of people, or someone well-known. Now put yourself there mentally and emotionally. How does it make you feel? Explore those feelings until youve found your target emotion. One way to make sure your lyric idea has the strongest inspiration is to brainstorm on universal topics issues that large groups of people are experiencing. Successful topics are often ones that many people find relatable. Where do you go for inspiration? Do you write in a specific room or place to get the creativity flowing?
